I have my terms and conditions on the back of my invoice pads which is ok for remedial jobs etc. where do I stand legally on emailed estimates for larger works. Do I attach t&c's to the estimate email or do I get them to sign the invoice sheet as acknowledgement before work commences.

You should attach the T&Cs to your email and refer to them in the body of the email; e.g This quote/estimate is subject to my Terms and Conditions. which are in the attachment to this email.

If the customer can't be bothered to read them, that's his problem - unless you have included a term which falls foul of the "Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 (SI 1999/2083)".

I supply a link in my email to my terms and conditions page on my website. This has always worked for me.
