Yes. Block off all trade in and out of the place as well. Dump all our illegal immigrants there in a huge airlift convoy to some remote mountain. And any of these "translators" who start causing trouble.

Brilliant idea.

Feasible, easily done, practical, legal, no chance of any long-term downsides, no chance of it not working in practice because the physical geography make the country easy to seal off and there are no nearby supporters and official/semi-official/unofficial allies.

I accidentally just saw a bit of the BBC news and in the very short time it took me to dive to the off switch I heard the newsreader mentioning the taliban and quoting things they had said. The way she was talking it was as if they were just one of many of the world's reasonable and legitimate parties. I'd prefer that, if the taliban have to be mentioned at all, they should be referred to as "taliban savages".
