I have a customer who wants to limit the times, and temperatures, at which the heating operates, 'cos he's a landlord and his tenants are burning gas like it's going out of fashion.

Does anyone know of any tamper-proof heating system controls?

honeywell/danfoss/drayton all do tamperproof stats as far as programmers go you would need to do a search but i am sure they exist

I did search, before creating the topic, both the Internet in general and those three manufacturers specifically, but didn't find what I wanted.

I've Emailed them though, so might get an asnwer tomorrow, which of course I'll post here.

Thanks anyway.

I think that you are missing the point!

A year ago I did just that for an Iraqi Landlord with the same perceived problem.

I fitted a programable thermostat in a ventilated box set to the times and temperatures which the landlord chose. It was fitted high up out of reach of the tenants.

I agree - I can't even see the point to which you refer!

I like that idea, and I'll propose it to him. Do you have any advice to offer regarding size and position of ventilation holes/slots?

Is the landlord called "Rigsby"? How does he know what temperature feels comfortable to his tenants? Using a coin meter will hit the user, and give the landlord the money, if the tenants are cold, they may do something hazardous like leaving cooker burners on. and the landlord will still suffer.

Where did you search? Try this .

Maybe he doesn't - I have no idea - he's just a customer with a request.

Fair point, and one that I'll pass on to him.

I also found that one, so I should have said so, but when I read its documentation there is no explanation whatsoever if how the "key-lock" works, so I've Emailed the supplier of that device. However, I don't expect much joy because there are no numeric keys on the front panel, so the lock can't be an encoded method, which means that anyone with knowledge of the device could override the lock.
