Hi,

I have had a damp problem at the front of my house with rising damp, company that have been to give me a quote have advised that I have the internal walls tanked upto 30cm above the current damp height and then re-plastered. i have read many of the threads on this method which all offer differing opinions, the reason tanking is being offered is because as there has already been a dpc injection carried out in the past it is not advised to re-do this because of damage to the bricks.

Any views appreciated

Theres a lot you cant see on here so your statement begs a lot of questions.

How old is the house?
Does it have a cavity wall?
May be worth cleaning out the cavity
Is the dpc breached?
Is the soil or whatever on the outside below dpc level?
Are you sure the cause is rising damp and not penetrating damp or condensation?

However from what you have stated I would say that the proposed work is reasonable but it may be worth getting another opinion or two

The dpc injection is only for short term solution, therefore a waste of money, it's the biggest rip off in the building trade.
