Hi,

I'm ready to buy my tanking for my shower enclosure but wanted to check the pricing with your guys before I get ripped off!

Someone said that Topps Tiles was expensive and wondered if this was the case on the tanking kit too?

They are offering the kit for £75.00

Is it BAL that I want to buy or is there others that are just as good?

Cheers

pci do a good kit, you can get it for around £50

but if you want the bal one it is also available for around the same price, topps are expensive on some items, but they will give you a discount if you ask.

best thing is just ring round your local area

Good advice. Get an idea of price online then go into topps tiles and ask them for a tanking kit. When they tell you the price, you tell them that their price is ridiculous and that you can get it for £x online. Tell them that you expected to pay a little more in store but not the price they are asking. Tell them to put it back. Then see how long it takes for em to lower the price.

Are you sure you need it? Bal say their White Star doesn't need it.

What substrate are you fixing to?

"BAL-WALL WHITE STAR is an acrylic based, highly flexible, highly water-resistant adhesive suitable for use in both dry and wet duty conditions, including commercial applications such as communal showers and hotel/restaurant kitchens."

Maybe worth sending them an email and see what they say?

Jus spoke to BAL technical and they suggest using the tanking kit and then white star.

Tanking is waterproof where white star is water resistant.

What I don't get is why they don't say that in their product information.

If you have a look at their technical bumph it makes no mention of tanking.

I'd agree that anyone using plasterboard without tanking wants their head testing - but why don't they say that up front?

I'd rather use Aquapanel personally, plasterboard belongs in dry areas.

Gareth. All I did was suggest the OP talk to the manufacturer. That's GOOD advice. Now stop being a grouch and gizza kiss.
