tap head removal

hi,
not sure if i attached the photo or not!! but if i did can anyone tell me how to get the tap heads off this type of tap?

its a heritage belmonte mixer tap

i was intending on replacing the tap heads after changing the cartridge not slicing them in half!

You more likely find the top silver cap unscrews.

The top domes above the gold rims are removable if you twist them anticlockwise, you will need a tea towel or similar to grip them without marking them, under that top tap is a screw holding the rest on.

is there any way to get them off if there tight?

not much grip to get a wrench on them is there?

Doubt you'll grip that with a wrench it's domed.
as for marking it.

If you can't do it with a rag etc i have removed them by putting the palm of your hand on top pushing down and twist.

tried unscrewing the cap but it wont budge, sprayed wd40 on it etc
used rubber grip gloves, but no good!!!

any more suggestions??


i know now that they screw off as the ones on the basin unscrew easy enough.

would the limescale stick them shut?

Try rubbery washing up gloves to give you a bit of extra grip.

Seco's pushing down trick might help too.

Have you tried heating them (hairdyer, or water from the kettle)?

And carefully run a pin around the periphery (where they meet the gold) to scrape off any scale that's possibly helping to hold them tight.

You'll get there

yes i tried gloves with the rubber bits stuck to them,
got a good grip but wouldnt budge!

wont heating them make them expand and get tighter?

and tried running a pin around the edge along with wd40
