Hi had the power and battery disconnected for a few minutes and connected the battery back up and put cover back on and no led or smart com activity, switched main power back on and then everything connected, as I haven’t got my multimeter atm does this sound like a bad battery or does it sound correct, battery around 3 years old ?

If you turn mains off battery should take over.
To power up on battery only you have to press kick start button
To power up on battery only you have to press kick start button
It’s possibly at 3 years old battery not good but hard to say without testing it properly with battery tester.
