Hi all, first post here! I've got an texecom premier elite 24 existing setup with a smartcom on com ports 1 and 2. I also have a ComPort+ model A5147-02-01 connected to the Digi Modem on the main board (currently used just as a backup if connecting over usb). I want to add homebridge capability (while still using smartcom) using the homebridge-texecom plugin and using a direct serial connection to my ubuntu server via a ttl to usb serial converter (with FTDI FT232RL chip which I think should work). I have wired up the pins as per diagrams on this forum for GND, TX, and RX. However, when I go to program the elite 24 and tell it to use crestron over the digi port there is no crestron option (as previously mentioned in other forum posts). There are options for COMIP, some gsm modules etc. Does anyone know if its possible to have the COMIP for the smartcom on the digicom so I can use the crestron protocol on com 2 or com 1. I recall trying to set it up this way previously and not being able to but I set the system up around 3-4 years ago now. Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes you can …comm port 2 can have the baud rate changed in wintex / programming , I have a few systems with smart com and gsm or dual com via the data lead and I allways use com2 for these

Amazing! Thank you. How much set up would be required to swap from com2 to the comport+? Is it simply a case of swapping over the connectors and programming the panel to comIP on that port? Or do I need to do a full set up of the smartcom system?

Ok I think on later v6 versions you have to look in comport settings in wintex will double check …

The smart com is on comport 1 and the com ip part is usually com2, with the comport adapter you can move it to com port 3.

You change settings in the program digi to reflect the port in use for sending out so normally comport 2 but change to com port 3.

Seem to recall that crestron protocol would work over ip and can use comport set to com ip rather than crestron but that’s going back a long time and I could be mistaken not something I have done in a very long time.
With two com ip ports you need to make sure they are identifiable with ip addresses and ports so they are seen separately.

baud rate can be changed in com port 2 but believe its auto on coms 1 and 3 but again from memory.

using serial you may be able to communicate by programming as not used.

Again this based on memory, it was possible for you to connect to a premier 24 for example via ip, although officially it didn’t have com ip option in the com port and you just used it as not used. You couldn’t use crestron protocol though because it was never in the panel.

Firmware has changed a lot since then though.
