Texecom Premier Elite 24-W Kit - setup

Hi,

I recently purchased a Texecom Premier Elite 24-W Kit along with an external siren and some additional impaq sensors.

I've now installed the control panel with com2400 and keypad and powered up.

However, I'm struggling with learning the first device (Impaq Contact-W Wireless Magnetic Contact supplied in the kit). I can get into adding zones screen and follow the countdown from 20 but no devices are found
when I try to power up the sensor. I noticed in the sensor manual it states to put a jumper on the relearn pin head and insert battery to learn device, but I dont have any spare jumpers, should i buy one? Assume the jumper goes accross the two pins.

In the control panel manual it states to short the learn pins and insert battery, I tried this instead but didn't work either.

I assume the short circuit/jumper should stay in place until the main control has learnt the device, then it can safely be removed?

Thanks in advance for the help, starting to worry that this may be a taks beyond my capabilities!

From what I remember when I fitted mine....I thought it came with the jumper but it was only across one pin?

If you don't have one, could you use the jumper from the reed sensor temporarily?

Yes you are correct, the device to be learned needs the jumper set on it, start the countdown on the panel and then power on the sensor. Once learnt, it should be removed.

Thanks, Ill try using the jumper from the reed when I get home.

I assume that once the control panel has learnt all the devices including the external siren (wireless), I'd be best to try using the wintex software (via USB) to complete the configuration instead of using the keypad?

I've got the software installed but havent connected the USB yet...

ALWAYS use Wintex. It's far better than the keypad and you can see exactly what you are doing.

battery out, short learn pins, battery in with pins shorted, unshort pins, start learn process on the system

this gives you more time, to learn the device on as its a 20 second count down

Last live kit I fitted a few weeks ago was just insert the battery no need for any learn pins to be fitted ! Is ? The commissioning link still on the panel ? Middle of the pcb right hand side....

Thanks for the help, I've now managed to successfully learn all devices tonight by setting the jumper/ pressing learn switch whilst inserting the battery during the countdown.

I then connected to panel via usb, installed the drivers (automatically) and launched Wintex. I created an account for myself specifying the panel as elite 24 with com2400 and left the rest as default. I then set PC COM to COM3 (verified against windows device manager with no driver issues) and tried to connect. After a short time an error popup appears stating: Connection with control panel could not be established- please check settings and try again.

Strangely the ricochet monitor software works fine and I can see all my sensors and view their status etc. I've tried reinstalling Wintex and restarting windows, but I still get the same error. Kind of stuck again!!

One thing I should mention is that I'm using this cable to connect, could that be the issue? It seems unlikely to me as it's ok with ricochet monitor application....

What com port have you got it connected to on the panel?

Ah, just checked and I'm using jp4 which looking at the manual again is for ricochet monitor, no mention of Wintex though. Does that mean I need to use com1 or com2 for Wintex and then jp4 for the monitor only?

Yep ! Lol years ago I had trouble in a dark cupboard trying to connect to a premier 24 only to find I had it on the engineers keyad jumper !

the wireless new range ie compact, smokes etc auto learn.

put battery in fires learn mode, setup panel to learn device on panel

commmisiong mode is essential and must be done, I prefer connecting via wintex and ricochet monitor to confirm comissioning mode complete.



you connect wintex either;-

via a communicator, the usb com lead is used as a local connection usually.

New elite panels version2.x with version 2 expanders, will allow you to connect to ricochet monitor via wintex.

You don't need to change any jumpers for this, but the comports should be programmed as not used if using the usb com lead.

Thanks for your help, I'm now connected using wintex

I need to familiarise myself with the terminology, but for now I've configured:

2 door contact sensors with reed jumper enabled, Entry/Exit type, always awake, chime tone enabled and auto rearm.
5 window shock sensors with reed jumper disabled, Guard type, auto awake, silent chime and auto rearm.
3 PIRs as Guard type, auto awake, silent chime, omittible and part 1 omit.

Assuming this is ok, next I need to learn and fit the bell - I'll wait until the daytime for that! Then setup keyfobs/users etc.

As I'm using the chime I was going to fit an internal speaker, the manual states to use one 8ohm or two 16ohm speakers, would i be ok to use just one 16ohm speaker e.g. Texecom Mini 16ohm Extension Speaker (CHB-0001)?

strange I always thought it was 1 16ohm, or 2 8ohms in series.

Have to be honest I am not a fan of the speaker any 16ohm speaker will do the job for the the speaker tones ie same as what comes out of keypad.

If you want something loud for the alarm internally http://www.elmdene.co.uk/Inter-Internal-Sounder-Range.html just wires in like a normal external bell.
but n a master blaster or inferno(not sure how easy it is to get the inferno it isnt cheap but apparently can make intruders beg for mercy as it is a mental sounder)

I think the manual I have must be wrong looking at the INS176 online manual it states to fit up to one 16ohm or two 8ohm speakers like you said. I only really want the speaker so I can hear the chime, I'll try turning up the volume on the keypad first though, thanks!

Hi,
I've now got my alarm installed and it seems to be working, done a successful walk test and bell test. However the external bell is now showing a power fault in ricochet monitor. Concerned this could be as I had the control panel in commission mode for a week - read that it draws more power from the devices in this mode. However the bell test still works. Is this something I should be worried about, does the keypad display a warning when the batteries are about to fail?

Also to replace the battery do I just enter engineer mode and then I can safely open the siren lid without activation?
