We don't have all the numbers, but they stole £500,000.
The property should all be returned at the offenders' cost.
Then the owners should be compensated for the trauma, at the offenders' cost. Something comparable to the value of the thefts and damage, so another £500,000, not £249k.
Any assets to which he has access should be recovered to do that. His family shouldn't be on the streets but they shouldn't be allowed the luxury of a mansion unless he/they can prove legitimate income to cover it.
Anyone including the judge would suspect that he has undisclosed assets. I hope the financial activities of the extended family are monitored, as well as his after he is released.
He would still owe any outstanding amounts, with interest, to be recovered when he comes out.
