The door handle acts in a strange way, is it broken?

My front door has a snib to hold the lock back when I go out to the bins.

I don't use Euro multipoint locks so I don't know what is available with such functionality.

I also have a spare key hidden in a keysafe in the shed, well away from unauthorised visitors and burglars.
