In all but name and coming quicker than expected...

Because the tories are taking advantage of the 'virus'...

"Covid: NHS backlog in England could reach 13 million, says Sajid Javid"

More people will probably die for other reasons than with the 'virus'.
Only they won't be recorded as covid related...

And what is the tory strategy to solve the backlog crisis?

"Among the solutions, Mr Javid said, would be to pay private healthcare providers to continue to treat NHS patients, and keeping virtual doctors' appointments."

There will come a tipping point whereby it will be, 'we've privatised so much that we might as well go the whole way'...

And 'virtual' doctor's appointments will mean that in the future it will be like phoning a call centre. You don't know the qualifications or where they are...

And that will mean bringing in the US model.
People will only miss the NHS when it's gone!

You may have scored an own goal there, if you're planning on emigrating.

I don't miss the NHS, and we have internet consultation available, drop in medical centres, etc.

Yawn.

Yeah, yeah. You’ve been saying that for years and you’ll still be saying the same in years to come.

Let me get this right: According to you, the NHS will be sending us out to private hospitals and paying the bill? I see no problem in that, I had an operation done privately and paid for by the NHS. It was great - not only did I have my own room and instant follow ups with no waiting, but I had a choice of meals from a pretty decent menu, a TV in my room, a button by my bed for tea, coffee and refreshments for myself and visitors, visitors allowed at any time with free parking and a good Wifi signal. What’s not to like?

How about no ICU in the private hospital as theres no money in that, so when you have a heart attack as a result of complications from your op you die?

Never going to happen. Anything with a chance won’t be done where there are no facilities. You’re just splitting hairs now.

People having heart attacks as a result of complications from operations is never going to happen?

Thak you for that useful bit of knowledge, Dr. Mottie.

Well, if you want to split hairs, you could have a heart attack being put out for dental work. Read my post - if they are doing major operations I’d expect them to place the patient where they would be able to cope with anything that may crop up. Less chance of that with an ingrown toenail compared to an actual heart op.

What people like mottie don't understand is that the private sector don't do tricky stuff...

Unless of course a private emergency system is going to be set up, but of course you'll pay extra for what the NHS currently provides...

Before his demise the prince of greece was being treated privately, until he became rather more ill and then the NHS had to take over...

When they had pulled him through he then returned to his private hospital room...

I wonder how many in this country will be able to afford that?

Did you honestly have an overnight stay in hospital for an ingrowing toenail?
And visitors!
What is the world coming to?

The private sector could do tricky stuff, in a NHS facilities, where the potential ICU facilities are available.

What people like Ellal don’t understand is that the NHS are unlikely to farm tricky stuff out to the private sector. Well, they probably do understand that but it doesn’t fit their doom and gloom narrative towards the Conservative party and the UK in general and enjoy trying to convince others that they will be ****ed if their wish of the demise of the NHS were ever to happen. Best vote labour and rejoin the EU eh?

The two are not connected, and Im not at all convinced that the former is a good idea, or will even be possible for a great deal longer.

The latter though, yes indeed. Glad youve seen the light.

And would the private sector have to pay the NHS for any emergency take-over of treatment?
I wouldn’t think so. They would be working on behalf of the NHS wouldn’t they so they would be fools to not have a 'what if' contract in place.

Could you care to point out to us any private A&E facilities available in the UK?

That may be the reason why

At present of course, but that will change...

Best you keep your credit card handy when the private ambulances start arriving for you old gits!
