The first cut is the deepest

I had thought we were an outlier when it came to welfare spending. But this chart shows other countries are similar or worse. I appreciate some have very different systems, so it is often difficult to compare. Nevertheless, I found it interesting as a basic starting point for discussion. Also, I have just noticed that it is a bit out of date:

How do you think YOU are going to achieve this then?
This is how they want to achieve it.

Oh so you're rich are you?
Ok here's the plan.
Anything you hold in savings or investments over a million you don't need. No one needs more than that, it's obscene.
So we'll take that from you. Every single penny.
Where will it be spent you ask?
Oh, on those who don't want to work of course. Silly you asking a question like that.

And the rich would exit the UK in greater numbers.
or find more ways to creatively hide it away offshore...which they already do any road. If a government came in to plug those holes and actively fund a means to secure a living wage without recourse to the necessity for a welfare top up, then we'd get somewhere.

My rich BIL moved a lot of money off shore a few years ago, they won’t go abroad as they have 6 grand children here now

Let's face it, we could tax 'the rich' more and yes, it might increase the tax take by a few billion. However, it still wouldn't touch the proverbial sides.

More job losses then.
