And non-fishermen can be a little cranky when their sense of entitlement is exercised by existing fishing which they think should stop because they've turned up.

Didn't buy that story I'm afraid. There's a long history of vandalism toward boats on the quieter parts of The Fal, local kids with nothing better to do. Feock is a very expensive area and anyone buying a second property there is probably a banker or hedge fund manager, not the type of person you'd associate with that behaviour, if anything they would love the charm of seeing small oyster boats moored up in the creek.

There's been a bit of a 'post corona' buying spree on property down here, the local rags have been putting out loads of those stories, a bit of 'anti English' sentiment helps sell newspapers.

Because we were full members of the EU, fully involved in the designing and passing of those laws.

How many did we vote against?
Brexiters seem to think the EU was them and us....not us and us.

The UK played a fundamental part in the foundation of the Single Market.
Many EU regulations were taken from British Standards.

ISO9002 quality assurance was the old BS5750 - a widely used management standard used in every industry sector.

Many f the EU common rule book are taken from industry specific standards.....which we follow anyway.

It's rather odd really....Leave campaign claimed Brexit would get rid of EU bureaucracy....not understanding the SM removes loads of it.

fairly typical of the f*****

Is your pent up bigotry still causing you to blurt out racist comments?
Bigotry is taught in the home to children from an early age by their parents and peers.

You told us that half of your family is Austrian your uncles and grandad were officers in the Gestapo and SS.
You told us your uncles were found, pizzed out their brains, with their trousers round their ankles and their frankfurter in their hands.
I wonder what they'd been up to in Auschwitz concentration camp full of men. women and children.
You told us how highly you regarded your uncles.

This behaviour from fishermen is common also in Greece. Even though not officially designated, fishermen "own" a part of the marina, and woe and betide you if you park in any of those slots (unaware). I had wooden, ugly, dirty boats tieing up on my boat and fishermen with heavy boots jumping into and out of my boat, my leather seats etc. And then I was blocked in and had to go around the harbour trying to find the right fishermen to come untie their boats so I could go before sunset. It happens to anyone who dares tie up where they should not.

However there is respect because when in distress they come out to sea to save you.
sorry to disagree - we were moored up where the Harbour Master told us to well away from the fish quay, both times (shall we say when we asked on where to move to he gave the fisherman some colourful Gallic words). They were just making it clear that we wearn't wanted in their water's.

Best not to ask mottie complicated questions...

He hasn't evolved past the 2+2 test and hasn't yet worked out why he always comes up with 5 !

...the housing market is moving quickly, ... Which is all good signs of a healthy economic future.
Its hard to think of a more toxic component of "economic recovery" than even more rises in the price of houses.

Here's the original story, and a typical comment.

Boat vandalised in Feock amid fears locals are being 'bullied out' - Cornwall Live

The two most potent words in this article? "I'm guessing." Without a shred of evidence, incomers are blamed. How thick is that? If they have shelled out thousands of pounds to live in a place like Feock, why would they vandalize their own view? Considering that even a cursory glance at the Courts articles each week would show us how many thugs, vandals and other low-lifes are already here in Cornwall, as of course they are in every county, I see no need to blame incomers. No one blames incomers when loads of tyres get slashed in Redruth. This is small-minded bigotry at its worst. If you are going to speculate, at least do it intelligently. I will believe it's an incomer when one is in court. Meantime, vandals are found everywhere.

As I live almost next door to a home where the owners are present about 6 weeks of every year, I'm well aware of the problem, thank you. But there is an intellectual gap between the second home problem, the incomers who have chosen to live here and the assumption that it must be incomers who vandalised the boat. Basic justice demands that accusations should be based on evidence. I have sympathy for any victim of vandalism, but I am staggered by the fact that they assume the perpetrators are incomers without evidence. Prove it, and I will join in the condemnation. Until then, let's try not to let our prejudices guide our brains.

I said moving quickly not prices rising.

There is a huge housing boom at the moment, an obscene amount of new builds are being developed, even more awaiting planning.

Personally I wish they will build the brown sites before the green fields, but alas the developers make less money in redeveloping brown sites

Yeah, but prices are rising rapidly, according to

+ many more.

I think I am starting to come to terms with the idea that my kids will never be able to afford to leave home, unless they put all their money into rent, which I would strongly advise against!

I salute your refusal to blame immigrants for crime, despite weak circumstantial evidence they are of a class that's more likely to take part in low level crime.

He also says he believes that employees further up the corporate ladder cheat more than those down below.
He reached this conclusion in part after delivering for years to one company spread out over three floors -- an executive floor on top and two lower floors with sales, service and administrative employees. Maybe, he says, the executives stole bagels out of a sense of entitlement. (Or maybe cheating is how they got to be executives.)

Just to support my earlier comment about Jersey communicating the new fishing licences via Westminster, Jersey's EU membership.

Prior to the UK’s departure from the European Union (EU), Jersey’s relationship with the EU was set out in Protocol 3 of the UK's 1972 Accession Treaty. In practice, this mean the Island was treated as part of the European Union for the purposes of free trade in goods, but otherwise was not a part of the EU.

Jersey’s relationship is now enshrined in our membership of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), which was reached prior to the end of the Transition Period on 31 December 2020.

In practice, responsibility for the Island's international representation rests largely with the UK government.

On 1st March Jersey signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK agreeing dispute resolution mechanisms between the UK and Jersey in respect of the UK-EU Trade & Cooperation Agreement (TCA).
https://www.gov.je/Government/Departments/JerseyWorld/pages/relationshipeuanduk.aspx#:~:text=Jersey's relationship is now enshrined, they come from the UK.
I suspect this will not be the last occasion that Boris manages to find some obscure way of blaming EU for problems caused by Brexit.
