using public services the same as a native would.

As I'm sure you know, the main cost in public expenditure is Pensions and the NHS. Our aged native population is the beneficiary of this spending.

Migrant workers aren't.

Funnily enough, our aged native population is no better at working in the NHS or paying National Insurance than they are at picking fruit.

Migrant workers are.

Right so your answer to propping up the aging population is let the foreigners do it.

Got it.

What nationality are the people who help your granny (or you) to the toilet?

Are any of them elderly retired British-born plumbers?

Do you think that retired Brits pay National Insurance?

True, but I suppose at least the UK's birth rate is very good compared to Germany's, Spain's, Italy's, Portugal's or Greece's.

Germany's is disastrous.

Do you think it would be a better idea to invest in our own population rather just letting foreign labour fill the gap?

Do you think we should work until we die to ensure we never need claim a pension?

All well and good saying 'well look who is doing it', that's because there's an issue with why we aren't.

I don't think it would be a good idea to restrict ourselves to only one of the two options you mention.

Do you?

Who do you think is to blame for our inadequate public services?
Given how long the Tories have been busily destroying them I'd say a good proportion of the blame can be laid at the door of people who continue to vote them into office.

And many of those people have shot themselves in the foot because they ignorantly rejected the European social model...

It appears they are happy to pay more for less!

Maybe we ought to then go down the same route that some other countries are going?

Paying 'our own' people to shag/reproduce?

If of course you can define 'our own' (y)

It is a simple fact that the West as a whole has an ageing population because it has discouraged high birth rates...

And in the UK it is worse than most because of the financial burdens that are imposed before a person even gets started in their working life...

Those coming in are often from countries with a large percentage of the population under 25 who have nothing to do...
(The EU of course allows people to go where the work is, regardless of political boundaries)

So unless you tear up the UK 'social model', immigration is the only way to keep things going...

Only now the immigration will increasingly have to be from countries outside the EU!

Better than Labour bankrupting the country with benefits and re-nationalising everything.

Care to disprove it?

Oh, but then of course you can't

Linky Linky

so the UK seems, if I read that correctly 3rd amongst the EU in terms of fertility rates, I wonder what the infant mortality rates are in a lot of those "top performing" countries.

I think the disprove comment may have been aimed at the (to paraphrase) western governments have encouraged low birth rates?
