Gary_M said:.....basically, we are all living in a 'false world' - generated by computers.
Machines are now 'masters' of the world and feed off the electrical energy created by humans (who are kept in little pods). To prevent human's becoming wise to this, they are 'fed' computer generated 'dreams' - and this is the world we think is real.
Some human's have discovered the truth, and have broken away from their pods and travel about in a ship - their connection to/from the computer generated world is via a telephone. They search for the one person (Neo) who they believe can release all human's and rid the world of the machines. The machines know about this, and hunt for these people (in the guise of agents)
Make sense now?

1. they didnt just "all wake up" they have built an underground city called Zion, near the core of the earth were its still warm. This has a military base (to fight the machines) and they have a lot of these ships, they are hovercrafts. The people who live in this city have been unplugged from the matrix, many of them were born in Zion, they have no "plugs" on their neck.pickles said:Some questions about the plot of the Matrix.
Where did they get the ship from, was it just lying about when they woke up fitted with all that specialist equipment. How convenient
Who cleans up all the poo from the pods
How do they get the humans to reproduce, given that they are asleep
Anyone who gives a convincing reply wins a free trip to Haverford West in January 2007
