The Sleepless Water Pump

Hi,

As per my photos below, I've just moved into a new house, and I'm still trying to figure out a few things, especially the water pump

I have a few questions that I hope someone can help with:

01 - The pump seems to kick in (make a lot of noise), every 20 mins, which is very frustrating... I presume these are designed to be left on 24/7?

02 - I have to turn it off at night (red light switch in photo) as it keeps me awake... is this likely to damage the pump?

04 - The hot water seems somewhat dirty at first when I turn it on and I need to let it run for a few minutes. Any ideas why this could be?

03 - Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

You've got a heat pump...heat energy from the outside air is used to provide heating and hot water.
The pump boosts domestic water pressure/flow...presumerably you have a storage tank somewhere.
It is designed to be left on 24/7 and I guess will run every so often as the pressure in the system drops due to leakage on the taps etc or back through the pump.
Might be an idea to get the installers back...
Very expensive system there, unless there's a watertight warranty prepare for hefty bills down the line.

@just pumps - haha, i'm not sure if you are serious or not... the red light is the switch that I turn off... the sound keeps me away... and the pump is not in my bedroom
