8 out of 10 jobs is still the same as MORE than 80%.
No it isn't. 8 out of 10 equals, i.e. is not more than, 80%.

How can you have 8.35 out of 10? A job is a job, you can't have .35 of a job any more than you can be .35 pregnant.
Yes you can - 8.35 out of 10 is a percentage, and equates to 835 out of 1,000.

The problem of immigration in a nutshell is that employers can now tap into a continuing source of cheap labour which keeps wages down.
How far down?

This influx leads to a shortage in the housing market
How much of a shortage?

...which forces prices up.
How far up?

What this means is that the average Brit will earn less...
How much less?

...yet have to pay more for his housing.
How much more?

That is a complete disaster for British children raised in poverty.
How many such children are there?

The rich are getting richer - whilst the poor are getting poorer.
How much richer, and how many; and how much poorer, and how many?

Not only that, the roads are more crowded...
How much more crowded?

...and schools are struggling with non-English speaking children.
How many schools, and what proportion of children are non-English speaking?

Can someone PLEASE put the pro immigration case forward please?
Immigration annoys you - that's A Good Thing.

Why don't you just say what YOU think. Ya know, your OPINION.

hes had a basic economics lesson already softus id save your breath as he didnt seem to be able to comprehend it. Cant grasp the fact that its people buying up housing for investment that is fueling the house price boom, even though thats what he does!

He appears to have a soap box he needs to stand on for this subject and likes to get on it every weekend.

is that what your doing then?

bit hipocritical isn't it?

ah. but you are buying up houses to do up and sell making a profit yes?

Let the immigrants come, make loads of money, buy property and rent it all out to unemployed Brits ... Problem solved.

ah. but you are buying up houses to do up and sell making a profit yes?

Yes. They would be uninhabitable otherwise. Then housing stock would be in even greater shortage - and the prices would rise.

so that means that you are pushing up the price of housing by including an element of profit within the cost of the house (and quite rightly so for the work you do on it, after all we dont get out of bed for nothing in the morning do we?). Which means that the house you buy do up and sell is now out of the reach of certain sectors of the market who would have happily bought it to live in themselves and do up on a diy and slowtime basis. Oh and of course when the value of the house you renovate goes up it also has an effect on the ceiling prices of neighbouring houses that havent even been touched.

Now imagine the effect of lots of people all over the country doing that, i wonder what it would do to the economy and the house price boom.......hmmmm i wonder, and not an immigrant in sight in order for that to happen either...........hmmmm

You're wasting your breath Thermo the guy has OCD when it comes to immigrants and nothing anyone says will make any difference at all.

Even the Mods have started culling his posts on the subject.

People can't get mortgages on very run-down properties, so what I'm really doing is giving the public a chance to buy what they otherwise wouldn't have got a mortgage on. Therefore I am putting MORE housing on to the market.

Guess what? Two thirds of the population are not in favour of open door Britain. I'm not in the minority - but you are.

Softus: I know you're not corresponding with me but I must say your earlier post made me smile which, given the frustration surrounding any topic where Joe-90 is involved, is an unexpected bonus ... Credit where it's due

yes they can, you can get a mortagage on any property, they just have to shop around and be prepared to accept any caveats or retentions that are put on the property and mortage.

but well done for providing such an excellent service to the public, oh and for inflating the house price boom
