Theresa unites the country at last! CBI and TUC unite for Brexit!

Nonsense. What about his boss? In July, Theresa made a niggardly offer

"It turns out the proposal merely amounts to treating EU citizens already living in the UK exactly the same as other foreign nationals in the UK. They would all have to apply for domestic UK immigration status and all prior EU rights of residence would be lost, including the right to be accompanied by family members. This falls considerably short of the EU’s earlier proposal, which would guarantee all existing rights for EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU."
https://www.newstatesman.com/politi...esa-may-s-citizens-nowhere-offer-eu-nationals

"In the meantime, EU nationals have been left wondering whether they might be allowed to remain, many have made what may be pointless applications for permanent residence documents and any good will that might originally have been generated with a minimum guarantee like this has been totally lost.

As with much of what we learn about Brexit, it is as if the UK Government is deliberately sabotaging its own negotiating position."

I suppose if you're in a Coalition of Chaos, and even the Cabinet and the PM can't agree what they want, there's not much chance the negotiators can achieve much.

"The supposed justification for not offering a minimum guarantee was to ensure reciprocation for UK citizens in the EU. Why, then, is the belated UK proposal completely silent on what reciprocal deal the UK wants?

The logic of the UK position is that UK citizens in France would have to apply for local French immigration status, UK citizens in Spain would have to apply for local Spanish immigration status, and so on. The UK is not proposing any enforcement mechanism, so if any of the remaining 27 EU member states reneged on the agreed rights, UK citizens in those countries would be on their own."

Notwithstanding my other points are valid, the above I hadnt realised and I agree is wrong.

ha ha!

you think Murdoch's Sky News is Left Wing!

:LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

I was disagreeing with Roger, who said the new statesmen was left wing propaganda.

My point was that it may left wing, but not propaganda.

Here's the way I'd play it. I am not particularly in favour of brexit, but the EU is understandably going to make Britain's exit of the EU as difficult as possible. So, as (Right or wrong) what we have decided. I'd say absolutely nothing... shop closed.. we're leaving in 2019. Balls in your court. No discussion. You panic not us.

Trust me Notch, if it's left wing, it'll be used as propoganda by John in any way he can. The left want to remain, and will spin any article to give the impression they want, as will the Tory papers of course, whcih is why John doesn't use their articles.

So thats where you get your left wing propaganda from. The newstatesman.
And here's a bit of right-wing propaganda for you, from the disreputable far-right daily wail:

"Private firms may be given powers to arrest people: Companies would be able to hold individuals who fail to pay fines imposed by courts
  • Private security firms such as G4S could be empowered to arrest fine dodgers
  • The Ministry of Justice published tender documents to run fine collections
  • They want to outsource the collection of fines imposed by the nation's courts
  • The controversial deal is believed to be worth in the region of £290 million "
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4927688/Private-firms-given-powers-arrest-people.html

It's worth remembering that G4S was caught charging the taxpayer for monitoring tags on people who were either dead, in prison or never tagged in the first place.

Perhaps the jackets will be re-labelled. "G4S, here to arrest you"

We had someone moaning about public services being taken back into public ownership.

and here's a tory government continuing to funnel public services into private profits.

The left on this forum may want to remain.

Jeremy Corbyn however has been a life long eurosceptic.

He voted against the European economic community

He voted against the Maastrict treaty

He voted against the Lisbon treaty

To be fair only a few services: water, energy, trains, royal mail.............yup thatll be affordable

Rail franchises are one of the easiest.

The licences come up for renewal periodically.

And the profits and any tax paid come from the taxpayer's subsidies.

If they're going to be run by a state, I see no reason why it should be a foreign one.

I wonder if you've heard about the scandal of excessive water charges flowing overseas.

It's nice to see that some of these festering sores are seeing the light of day and discussion has opened up.

Jeremy Corbyn however has been a life long eurosceptic.

Corbyn has voted against everything, just for the sake of it. There's vey little that's truely Eurosceptic about him. In fact, a contrarian might be a better description for him.

Wheres the money going to come from?

That increase in corporation tax that labour spent many times over in their manifesto?
