Thermostatic shower bar groans and pulses.

Update time: got a cold tank feed to the shower (instead of from the mains) and now it doesn't work at all; not a dribble at any temperature

Sure you said somewhere it was a low pressure mixer- do check. And make sure any isolating valves are open...Don't know whait is inside them but it is conceivable that the high pressure cold has karked a low pressure device

The mixer is thermostatic one; don't know about it being low pressure though.

There are no isolator valves, unless you mean within the shower bar. I think my pressure is just not high enough to operate this particular thermostatic bar. Going to get a manual mixer bar I think (or just kill myself).

Well you've got one thermostatic that works, get another one the same & it should be good to go. Assuming the supply pipes aren't a snake pit...

As I sat at the computer, I heard the shower come to life. It took an hour for the shower to come on. Once it did it was a pretty decent pressure though.

24hrs later and it's working fine! Hooray.

Yesterday, after replacing the mains feed with a tank feed, I turned the shower on and had nothing at any temperature; I left it on and after over an hour it suddenly came to life. I was worried I'd have to repeat this after leaving it a day, but no, it's working fine. Guess it just needed to be primed.

It would have been an airlock. Over time the airlock's moved slowly up the pipe and eventually would have bubbled up to the top and allowed it to flow.
Good stuff though, that's a result ....
