Thanks. I see.

Last time we arranged for home delivery, I think we were charged £5 for delivery. That was from a single supermarket. If I arranged for a mixture of items from, say, four different supermarkets would I have to pay four separate delivery charges? I presume there is also a charge for the use of Mysupermarket's services.

Another vote for mysupermarket - occasional emails from them about offers and whatnot, but does save me a far bit of cash (and time). As I have Asda, Tescos, and Sainsbos all within throwing distance, I can see where Carlsberg / Taco shells / etc etc is cheapest, then stock up there. As it is neither here nor there which supermarket I go to (as they are all pretty much equidistant), it is worth me saving £2 on 20 cans, or 3 for 2 on tacos, for example.

Re: crafty pricing, you have to keep your wits about you, but if someone can't figure out a bit of sleight of hand, should they really be in charge of the money anyway?

I was in Tesco the other day, as we had run out of Typhoo tea bags. I will die without multiple morning cuppas.

You'll have to forgive the exact details, but the gist is here. All side-by-side on the shelf,

Standard 240 bag box of Typhoo - £5.69

80 bag box of Typhoo with 50% extra free i.e. 120 bags - £2.29. Therefore 240 bags for £4.58.

160 bag box of Typhoo with 50% extra free i.e. 240 bags - £4.00 dead.

£1.69 for nothing but a different print on the box must have Tescos wetting themselves all the way to their next billion

it dosent come from more than one supermarket it compares as in

asda £70 tesco £71.92 sainsbury £77.20 ocado £81.50
you then choose the best supermarket

asda are generally cheapest for the goods with delivery from £3
mysupermarket is free they get paid "commission" from the shop you choose
they also offer cash back between 5 to 50% [generally 5-10%] on some items on top off what the stores offer

you can usually get the first delivery free by looking at one off the voucher sites
once you have a shopping list it pops up the second time as a prompt to reorder each item on a click

Do you remember when a gallon of fuel neared the £4 mark, everyone was up in arms, so they started selling it by the litre, how much a gallon is it now??

you sure it wasnt the £1 mark per gallon ;) 4.544 ish liters are 1 gallon so £4 a gallon is about 85p per liters

another one is crisps
the worst crisps are 34% fat the best are around 15% but they are the potato/maze/rice /cereal /manufacture/cooked rather than deep fried
they now start quoting calories as in sub 100 calories but this is misleading as they are still 34%fat even cooked snacks that should be low are deep fried
all they do is reduce the pack size to comply with the sub 100 calories the worst example is reduced from around 25-16 grams

do not read the calories read the fat content per 100grams if its less than 30 its better down to around 15%fat is the best but still very fatty but ok for an occasional snack

OP; 3/4" screws are a bit short and will not bite well=enough into the sub-floor material. Try longer screws - say 1" or 30mm - there will then be enough threard to bite into the subfloor and pull tight down on the ply, possibly without even countersinking.

This is what I've been talking about in my thread about SIM only and mobile deals:

sometimes at the same re/e-tailer, you can find the exact same deals on sale for various prices, with huge variations in price. As you say, why pay more for exactly the same thing, especially when it's on sale at the same place?

The 2 examples are for different mobiles, but within each example the re/ etailer, phones, provider and price plans are exactly the same:

One deal costs £920 over 24 months, the other £677.

£243 difference.

£41 a month Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited £79.99 = £1064
£46 a month Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited £29.99 = £1134
£61 a month Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited £19.99 = £1484

I know...that one where you pay less for the phone looks the best deal, so I'll go for that one...

£420 MORE???

With both these deals, the best value deal (looking at the total cost over the length of the contract) was the one with the highest phone cost.

Obviously the mobile phone retailers and carriers are trying their damndest to bamboozle folk and hook them into deals that look tempting with low handset costs, but have horrendous costs over the lifetime of the deal.

That's just plain underhand.

I am going to try and start a campaign to stop this practice. Just not sure where to start.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thank you. I might give them a try.

And if the boards are 18mm and the ply 6mm, that doesn't leave much if some dozy tradesman has put cable or plastic pipe in a notch and it's pressed up hard against the floor board. If your screw goes straight through the ply you could hit something below.
