Thinking of buying an Apple ipod? Think again

I avoid buying products from Apple anyway, and any other market dominating company too for that matter. That's why all ours PCs come from a local indpendant shop where the guy builds them himself, I avoid shopping in TESCO even if it costs me more money and why i don't own (or want) an iPOD, iPhone or any other Apple device. I do own an Mp3 and an Mp4 player but i don't see why everyone gets so excited about owning a product which every other Joe Bloggs has??

Hope the guy in the story sold the story to the media for more money than the refund would have been!!

The iPod is a nice design but the main reason I wouldn't have one is due to the need for iTunes! Nearly all other Media Players can be accessed as a removable drive once connected to a PC. Even a 'Poundshop' MP3 player can be plugged into a PC and accessed as a removable drive ie you can copy and paste your chosen tracks. This is a much easier user interface in my opinion. To be fair though, you'll have iPod users the world over who think it is the dogs so it's a personal thing.

wouldn't buy any of their products for one simple reason. They're cr*p. Case of style over substance.

Isn't this the same for almost everything nowadays?? I was told earlier this year by a mobile phone reatiler that if you're looking for a mobile phone for business use, buy the most basic phone with the least functions you can, as the ones with flip-top, sliding touch-screens and top notch camera's are built more like toys than real products and wont last five minutes if you're using it intensively for business use and even less time if you work in a 'physical' industry (eg building).

Yep 'fraid so. I did hear a rumour that moby retailers actively try to dissuade people like me who simply want a phone to go ring ring when it's rung, and be audible when I answer. Apparently I want all that extra garbage. Not.

I get fed up forking out all that money just to find a new one comes out a few weeks later

Increasing numbers of reports are emerging of problems with the iPod's lithium batteries. The Japanese government has issued a warning on the matter, and Apple currently faces a legal suit in Ohio after an iPod allegedly exploded in a child's pocket.

They should have used the GloboTech lifetime lithium cell.
