Driving like a complete idiot in a car he had chipped.

He should be jailed for a very very long time. I suspect he modded the car without telling his insurance company.

In which case, the insurance company are well within their rights to withdraw cover, leaving him open to be sued for compensation for the lives he has totally wrecked.

B'stard.

You can't get blood out of a stone. Insurance company should pay out to the victim, then they can sue him.

Bang him up for a long time

""Earlier that same day, Chapman had taken the car to Redcar, Teesside, to a specialist software engineer where the BMW’s performance had been “dramatically improved” from 313 bhp to 427.""

That engineer should be held to account as well as Chapman.

Why? What law did the tuner break? Had the owner used the power responsibly and told his insurance there would be no crime.

He did not break the law but should have tried to ensure the modification would be known to and accepted by the insurance company before altering the car.

Did the insurance company pay the motorcyclist's claim ?

Both of our xf’s have the power increased . One from 505 to over 600hp . the other from 240 to 305. I won’t be killing anybody.
The clown in question was destined to do what he did regardless of what car he was in.

You might as well blame the person that sold him the car, the petrol station that let him fill up or even BMW for making the car.

This is all down to the driver. He probably could have been doing a similar speed without the car being modified.

Mine has been tuned, it outputs around 20% more power, but I did advise my insurance and I only wanted the extra power for my own safety. I certainly rarely use the extra power.

Another important point about the most people that go and increase the power on their cheap car because they can't afford a more powerful car is the fact the majority are ignorant of the facts re rules/law/etc and therefore dont tell the insurance and are left crying after even a smaller crash when the insurance guy checks the engine for tell-tale signs of modifications and catches them out

Importantly, most ignorant people will increase the power but FAIL to upgrade the brakes/suspension etc. Why do people think that more powerful cars have bigger brakes etc. Yes, so the car can stop safely as it did before the power hike.

If you have the power increased, you need brakes update and tell the insurance like some do but the majority do not.

thanks.

80mph on Hedon Road?! Idiot. Its a 40 zone, with regular roundabouts.

He's from Swanland, which is a posh area on the outskirts of Hull.

It appears to me as though our 'esteemed' legal system has yet to improve sentencing measures around serious crimes committed when driving. I'm too lazy to dig out articles to refer to, however surely we've all seen them. Along the lines of 'Smith, 38, was 3 times over the drink driving limit, had traces of cocaine in his system and was driving in excess of 60mph in a 30mph zone when he lost control, mounted the pavement and mowed down and killed Joe Bloggs. Smith, who was banned from driving at the time of the incident and driving without insurance, was today sentenced to 8 years in prison.'

that’s nonsense, a law does not exist to prevent such modifications of vehicles.

This happened because there is no policing of such behaviour on the roads. there’s no police presence anywhere other than outside junkie houses and mcdonalds drive thrus. Basically if there’s no camera it’s game on for these idiots.
whether he was insured or not has no relevance on the accident or the outcome. And the reason he failed to provide the pin to his phone is most likely his antics are all over tiktok or instagram.
Another fad fuelled by poor policing and innadequate legislation.
