As its on lease and fully comp insurance it matters not whether it's new or used

A young lass at work passed her driving test a few years ago. Her dad bought her a (newish) Ford Fiesta on the understanding that she paid for the insurance. About 6 months after she'd passed, a car ran into her at some traffic lights, (the other driver was completely at fault as cctv clearly showed ) She now can't afford to drive a car simply because she can't afford the insurance. Even no fault accidents result in increased insurance premiums.

so why bloody post it then if you dont want the responses you have read???.

Show me where I said I'd buy it for her.
I don't mind the replies as long as they're bloody accurate.

The op is about the cars and what manufacturers and the yoof see as a selling/buying point, is: Bluetooth, Facebook, email, Twitter etc.

Because it has built in email, Twitter and Facebook, wtf that's all about:)
Did you know you can get pocket-sized machines to do those things - much cheaper than a car?

The 500 isn't much bigger:)

Tbh I'm quite proud of her, she's 24 and she's able to afford and willing to pay for the lease.
At least she's not out partying(too much)and wasting her money.

Her insurance through the lease company is only £700 per year which isn't bad, I pay that on a 5 year old van.

I wouldn't buy my kids a car with that lot enabled. I think it would be a serious distraction which they do not need.

I would get them a Fiesta with MyKey so you can programme the maximum speed and maximum volume of stereo etc...

Call me a killjoy if you like!

I am not buying it, she is leasing it, I am just the guarantor because she has only 8 months work/wages history and that's as self-employed with no accounts to show.

Feck that, save up and buy a car. WTF has she been doing since she was 16 to have not saved enough for a first car? Leasing a car @ 24, Jeez that seems more of pertinent issue than what tech the car has. There really is no hope for the new generation if this is the example they're following .....

She has been to uni, had a life, gained a degree and now runs her own business.

She may have savings, she may not, what
she does with her money has fa to do with you nor me, and she's probably happy to have a supportive dad instead of a grumpy git.

Yes, the original post did seem like she was just a little girl being bought a car.

Turns out she is a business woman who loves her Dad.
