Maybee its a seasonal thing, as i spend less time on the computer and more time out and about when the weather is nice.
spent all of yesterday doing my other "Job" working up the canal, as we had the official opening of the next lock yesterday. i was busy lockkeeping / controlling the water levels in my section and was out all day from 6.45am until 8pm.

Solar powered canal boat. Now there's an idea - especially for warmer climates.

Canals have always interested me - ever since I did a primary school project when I was a kid. Hence why I'd love to be able to get water-borne (canoe/little skiff and wildcamp).

You'd know the history of canals far better than me no doubt, but every day I drive past the mine openings which lead onto the bridgewater. Had meal in the John Gilbert pub as well as Worsley Old Hall - I think these are connected to the origins of canals ;)

yes you are correct, Worsley was the birth place of the british canal network, the Duke of Bridgewater built the Bridgewater canal to transport coal from the underground mines at Worsley to Manchester the rest of the canals followed until the system was from Littllehampton in the south to Ripon in the north and Boston/Hull in the east. to the west the Kennet & Avon, Thames & Severn, Worcester & Birmingham all head towards the river Severn and there were links into south wales (sadly no longer connected)

I'm intrigued by the answers to the question... and i'm probably one of those people who come on here just to spout off avery now and again , and not offer much help to DIYers (although i have tried). But to use your own arguments... why shouldn't i?

However, i now accept that maybe have a lot of the old regulars have got a bit bored with the constant dragging of soapboxes across the general discussion floor...

But i am surprised that many of the 'watchers' don't join in... after all, where else in this country can you vent your frustrations? apart from writing to the Sun or the Mirror?
