Hi Everyone, I am a new member here

My wife and I are looking at building a timber frame extention or SIP extention, we have a basic plan and are looking at having a steel frame platform on the 2nd level with a timber frame built on the steen platform underneath lower level will be used for shed space, I have attached the plan to give you an idea on what we are looking at my question is - what do you use for flooring I.E Block and beem or is there another alturnative, also how do you attach the timber frame/SIP panels to the steel platform. Any help or advise would be really helpful. Thank you Nick.

Won't you have to clad the steel frame from ground to first floor anyway? And the steel frame will be hardly any thinner than your SIPs and be inside the cladding, so not sure what space saving you'll benefit from? Not to mention design and steel costs and bloody great pad foundations, surely it's cheaper to just take the SIP's down to the ground and build off a traditional foundation/wall? With SIP's you'll need a crane for a day too. For the floor you can use traditional joists, posi joists or B/B.
