In response to ss on here, my best school friend (sat next to him for over 5 years) was killed on his motorbike over 30 years ago. Whenever I visit a church at home (rarely) or abroad as a tourist (annually) I light a candle for him.

I hope there's an afterlife as I'd love to "meet" him again. Maybe I'm stupid for wishing it, but hey ho, what harm is there In hoping!

Nice town Ludlow!

Apart from the trilobites there are more pubs per head of population than any other town. At least that's what the town's pub guide said at the time.

Also featured in Blott on the Landscape series with "Arthur Daley" as Sir Giles living in the manor with Geraldine James and they went to visit the "Four" Feathers!

But I stayed in the Church Inn round the corner from the Feathers which did a wonderful job providing accommodation to BBC engineers on rotating shift work at the nearby Wofferton short wave transmission station which provided VOA services. Does not seem to exist any more.
