I am having some windows made and the joiner and I have to decide whether or not I want tinted window panels. They're tinted for thermal efficiency. Compared to untinted double glazing they are 1.9U vs 1.4U. Which seems pretty significant.

My house gets very little direct natural light and I want to maximise the amount of light in the room, I probably care more about that than thermal efficiency... to a point.

I am leaning towards going for clear windows, seems like a less regrettable decision and they're problem much more efficient then what they're replacing anyway. But I'd like to hear from anyone gone through a decision making process and reached any conclusions.

I stick with clear glass.
When the heatwave comes we keep curtains shut.
As for heat efficiency I don't known.
Our velux widows I put a tint on the inside but not sure it does anything to keep room cool so I fitted an external blind. I guess your tint will be on the outside?
