TIP - Unfused Spurs - Selection of MK Socket Make.

Personally, whenever I need to run an unfused spur on a ring final socket, I always use an MK socket as the source fitting, as they have large deep terminals, that can safely grip THREE 2.5. mm sq cables in their back connections. Other sockets don't seem to do as good job in securing the cables that well. With the MK sockets, I can gently wiggle the cables, and they always feel solid and well connected.

I also like MK FCUs, the layout of the terminals is the most logical I've seen. In a nice straight line. CPC, Line, Neutral (IN) Neutral, Line CPC (LOAD).

Yea the grid switch terminals are like chocolate. The Logic Plus stuff isn't as bad though.

Don't think the CPC is in the middle !

The trouble with the MK stuff is that it's very important you lay the T&E in the correct way, otherwise everything is crossing over!

No, CPC is on the outside. Line & Neutral in the middle. My text was supposed to represent the order of the terminals on the back

The latest MK ones even have dual earth terminals for convenience, or when a high integrity earth arrangement is needed.

I'm not a fan of dual earth terminals (unless for HI earthing) I'll always put both my cpcs in one terminal even if there's a second one available

Am I missing something? Surely that applies to every FCU / socket / ceiling rose, whatever the manufacturer.

When I'm doing first fix, I like to check first on terminal sequence of accessories if space restricted, although not necessary if using extra deep boxes.

I was thinking the same thing. It really doesn't matter what you do with the T+E with some accessories though, there's just no thought put into it, so there's nothing you can do with your T+E to help

If one wire is going up and another down it doesn't matter so much.

But with MK they need to do a direct cross over.
