Zampa, I can't say I've really experienced the excellent service thing in the states, maybe I've just been unlucky, but some of the service I've received has been truly awful. Try buying a mobile (cell) phone in the states, a Gun no problem ,a phone, no chance. Ok albeit some time ago, try changing travellers cheques in to dollars ..... Sterling, are you an alien??? No as I say, I may have been unlucky, and I'm by no means extensively travelled in North America, but I've had some lousy service, unfortunately I have to say I've also had some of the worse meals ever in North America. The worst meal I ever had was in a travelers Lodge near Glasgow, had to be experienced to be believed ! Now normally I wouldn't say boo to a goose, but this one I refused to pay for, as I felt phyiscally sick after attempting to eat it. I think it was supposed to be goulash, but it was more fat 'n' gristle in slime, tempting

I came across this site by accident whilst searching for various DIY advice. I have just had an extension built and getting new kitchen and bathroom and basically much needed work all over the house. It is all ongoing now as opposed to doing one room at a time. Neither of us are good at DIY and have zero experience. I have waited a long time to do this and am on a budget. I have to sort out flooring, decoration, plumbing stuff, electric stuff and its really quite difficult, never ever having done anything like this before. I feel quite inadequate at times as my ignorance in the DIY field is quite apparent.
You refer to wind up multiple posters.... I can assure all here that everything I have asked has been genuine. I am also very grateful for the advice I have had on this site to date. I have asked lots of questions because I have a whole house undergoing work and its a struggle when you dont know and you dont have the stereotypical dad to either show you or do it for you.( or the money to get the butler to arrange it for you!!!! )
To reiterate, I ask because I need to know and Im interested in finding the answers out.
I just got taken aback Moz, you made assumptions about me that were unfair.
I work in a male orientated environment and hey boys hey, I am not (believe it or not) easily offended and enjoy good banter. I just felt that you were not having friendly banter with me it was about me and were making an uncalled for dig at me. By speaking about me to others and not directly to me, it was like kids in a playground trying to turn a group against one individual for kicks,you know... you cant be in my gang.

and finally Moz, I could come out with outspoken comments about others and blue jokes and swear like a trooper and belch and what ever as good as the next man.... I dont, not because I think im something or because Im a wind up merchant but because I choose not to be portrayed like that.
The men I work with all say that is a quality not a negative. I dont preach, I laugh at sometimes very un PC jokes, I dont do damsel in distress ( though I would consider it if it meant being rescued by a gorgeous male!! joking) I dont baulk at page 3 calenders and Im a good mate to have. I may be the stereotypical woman who knows nothing about DIY but Moz, with that post you made the DIY world seem an all male private club.
so... thats the air cleared then I hope.
