Take it to any electrical retailer and they will take it off your hands for recycling.
This is where a big part of the problem lies. People do not take things for recycling, they just toss small things into their general rubbish bin and think the council will re-cycle it on their behalf.

I feel your pain.I have had numerous toasters that will not accept a regular Warburton slice in any orientation
The heating elements are pretty delicate, sticking a knife in to remove stuck lumps, or even shaking the toaster to do the same thing can damage them. Get a new toaster with the best warranty you can get.Changed fuse but still not working. Any reasons?

That is one of many pet hates. You buy a toaster for convenience and have to pull the handle up halfway through to invert the bread.
And for 22 squids, you can't really go wrong.
