Toilet not flushing

My toilet is not flushing, before I could push the ballcock down a bit so that more water was entering the cistern and once the water was up a bit it would flush but now its not even doing that.

Try not to use the toilet pee and dump in the waste disposal unit hole in the kitchen sink

what type of flushing mechanism is it?

post us a picture of your toilet cistern inards, that'll get the answers flooding in.
