The mum ? In the U.K. it’s none of her business, legally

Thats one way to drive a gigantic wedge between them!!

How come he gets jailed and she didn't? Year makes all the difference?

Law is law, but I feel sorry for this boy who got jailed because the girl was a few months short of 18.
I wouldn't have felt sorry if he'd been a 50 something year old... or even 30.
I know there must be a line drawn somewhere, but they're virtually of same age ffs.
When I was 15 I had an 18yo girlfriend, she technically committed an offence.

Bet you didn't complain !

I've heard it suggested that the mother wanted revenge because the boy is black.

Because he was still over there. I'm sure I read that she complained once the mother and daughter were back in the U.K.

It’s not often I agree with you, but this was my thought too. Though I have no evidence that the girl isn’t.

Mum found out about it. When they got home.
