Towel rail valves installed wrong way around ?

Well, if the pipework to the rad is getting hot, you at least know that the rad has a hot feed from the boiler. If the rad is not getting hot at all, you need to open the lockshield valve (silly but it's worth a check).

Try that and let us know.

Open the TRV to full as well, otherwise you won't have any return flowing.

You will eventually need to swap the valves round though.

As I said earlier, your rad should still get hot.

Thats why you needed to make sure the lockshield was fully open.

But you don't need to swap the valves....TRVs have been bi-directional for 20 years or more.

Will this not cause a problem when the TRV wants to shut when it reaches temperature, closing the feed to the return?

Ok I'll have another go at this. I'm sure both we're open last time

Providing the differential pressure is not too great modern TRVs can be fitted either end.

Right well it appears to be hot now....

The valves are still not the right way around though. Hoping this is ok.

Perhaps I didn't open the lockshield all the way or something

Well, apparently the TRV's position isn't detrimental, so you will be alright.

There's no right or wrong way for rad valves.

As stated above there bi directional.

On the Danfoss RAS2 valve you remove the valve head and there's a collar that moves to suit flow direction.

Never been happier not to have to do a job  Now I can finish up the bit of painting to the boxing in the bathroom
