Can you imagine a worse death ? In the dark, no escape and freezing and knowing your freezing to death ? Tragic and terrible.

Taking to the chanel in an inflatable ? Imagine the risk.

These tragic deaths are easily avoidable ......remember the boat people trying to get into Australia a few years back ? It used to be on the news ......

Australia stopped it dead in its tracks .......the message " You arrive illegally by boat you will never be granted citizenship ".

The people smugglers pray on the hopes of desparate people seeking a better life.
Take away their selling point.
The government should issue a similar notice " Arrive in this country illegally and you will never be granted citizenship. You will be deported "

The message should be clear and strong, only legitimate asylum seekers or migrants will be considered and accepted, all illegal applications will be rejected.

So these unfortunate people will not trust the false promises of traffickers.
The government should put out these notices in the press in foreign lands.

It worked for Australia.

That was a one off. Plenty of other boats get through. Australias costsline is so big.
More illegal immigration comes through the airports into Australia, and people overstaying their visas.

This needs controlling. People are getting rich and people are dying.

Like applying for a work visa applicants can't get the visa in the country they wish to work or live. They must apply in a neutral country if not your own.

Interesting documentary / interview with a guy who travelled from Syriah - he said even though the journey was hell and people die on the way, he'd do it all over again. The alternative is worst then the risk of travel. Yes, some of these people are economic immigrants. But many are slaves, and many are fleeing persecution and war. We cannot treat them all the same without becoming totally inhumane.
