Hi, it's above the front door of a flat (there is an existing georgian wired that will stay) it's to block noise from people in the shared hallway.
Two question, firstly what deduction to I make from the aperfture width/height to get the glass cut ? Is 5mm okay, it's pretty square imo.
Second question is, I have been offered 6.8mm laminated, but it's a bit cheaper to get 12mm toughened ... from the spec sheets they both say -35db sound reduction. 6mm seems pretty thin to me and I have a feeing the toughened is a better choice blocking deeper noise due to its mass. (-35db could be of any part of the spectrum or just an average). Here it's mostly door slams that are the problem rather than voice.
Thoughts ?
Cheers
