Mods are being uber-pedants at the moment then, I take it?
This wasn't an act of pedantry, it was a moderator being either (a) extremely slipshod in not paying attention to what was being deleted or (b) out of control. I suspect the latter, because I've seen other posts go missing, and be altered, silently and without explanation.

Maybe all three?

Pedant makes a mistake then... Nah!

I'll settle for interfering little busybody with no sense of humour. There's simply no justification for some of the meddling that goes on here.

BOT What about those Truckers! Er, Scientists?

Have you had a response from admin?
Generally I don't have any criticism of Admin. I wouldn't expect him to enter into correspondence regarding Moderator behaviour, because that would be unbecoming. Moreover, on this occasion, the message I sent wasn't one that needed any reply.

If you have specific examples of threads and/or posts that have been deleted, then I would urge you to Email Admin with the title and/or URL (as applicable), because there is an audit trail that he can follow to determine what happened.

I would also urge anyone who might be tempted to, to resist the temptation to turn this topic into a barrage of moderator 'abuse ', not matter how mild or impersonal it might be. Two wrongs don't make a right, and at the moment the users have the moral high ground.

Not so sure I would agree with that. Respect is a two-way street and bludgeoning (or attempting to bludgeon) people into submission by the pathetic mod behaviour that has gone on in here over the last day or so - and at times previous - is not imo the way to deal with it.

Likewise an acknowledgement of receipt of communications at the very least, does not take any effort, even if the details of what action (if any) is being taken is not given out - although that would in turn at least give a modicum of confidence that people's concerns are being acted upon, even if the answer is to agree to disagree.

I infer that you think Admin is doing the bludgeoning, but I don't think that's the situation at all.

Perhaps, but my experience has often been that the correct action has been taken, sometimes with a delayed effect, without announcing it or explaining it. I have no problem with that, because this is a privately owned site, not a democracy, and in Admin's position I also wouldn't respond to every single Email.

But my experience is academic, because each person who has a grievance should be politely Emailing Admin themselves.

I maybe could have written it in a different way, then, as my comments were aimed at mods - and one in particular - not Admin, unless he has multiple personalities :).

Fair enough comment.

I rest my case

Care to explain why the last one was binned? It's ok for you to make comments, but not ok for any of us to respond, is that it?

Mod 4 this thread was already way off topic when it was spoiled and sent on the road to ruin by the deletion of a post by sooey. Was there really something so wrong with that post that justified its deletion?

Don't bother blond, I've asked a question three times now and the post has been binned in response. That is neither a sarcastic or vitriolic comment, but will again fall foul of mod 4's idea of modding and be binned. As will yours.

It's time to think about refusing to answer questions in the other forums.

Well, you never answer them correctly anyway, Joe, so maybe that's a plus :)

Note to moderator: the above is called gentle banter, Joe is not crying as a result of it and no doubt will give as good as he gets. We are both big boys and able to look after ourselves without your size 12s making an appearance. This is not a sarcastic paragraph, it is merely a truism.
