I have a Hotpoint Aquarius 7Kg tumble dryer.

Two years ago I replaced the brass looking bush at the rear of the machine.
I noticed say metal filings down the rear or the appliance hence changing it.

I did some washing yesterday & once down I removed the washing & turned the dial around so it was then on the 20 minute cooking cycle.

I could hear what sounded like a towel being left it there.
Thump thump thump.

I opened the door but there was nothing in there.
With the top of machine off I can lift the drum up a bit at the rear.

Rear bushing failing again ????

I bought from a seller who had sold many & had good feedback.

I never put 7Kg of washing in there so do you think it’s just poor quality bushes as I can’t think of anything else.

Now I can’t remember if the first one I removed was brass or not now.

When you say bearing isn’t that the grass part that Ive changed.

The rear of the drum has a shaft which then fits into this bush.

Ok
I’m asking why’s it needs replacing so soon.

Cheap copy or do they need changing each year. Original lasted way longer.

Ive now taken it out.

Model is Hotpoint Aquaris TVFM 70

I did fit that the first time so as now the perdrop is worn i thought to just replace that as the rest of it is fine

That seems a lot of wear in a short time. Is there an adjustable belt tensioner that might have set the belt too tightly or does it just go from the motor then round the drum. Does the worn slot face upward or downward when on the machine.

I havent taken the rest of the back off but from memory im sure its just around the motor & drum.

The damage to the bush is at the bottom when fitted

That is a very similar model to ours which has never had that bearing replaced in over 20 years. If you are sure you fitted the the rear cover properly last time then it would seem that it might well have just been a poor quality replacement. Can't really remember but are there any rollers fitted to the rear cover that should/could support the drum

There is the main plastic cover that hides all behind.
I remove the 2 screws then i see a circlip through the end of the drum shaft.
I remove circlip & pop off a circulare metal part like a wine gum sweet.
Once that is removed i can then just pull off this peardrop part

Item 423 is the whole rear metal panel

Why would I change that.
It’s to expensive to do that & that doesn’t explain why the bearing has failed.
The rear metal cover just has a hole in it which the drum spindle passes through.

Just can’t see why you advised that ???
