Hi,

I have just fitted an outside light, and I am hoping to swap the existing 1-gang/2-way switch in our hallway for a 2-gang switch.

Would it be possible to have one of the switches kept as a 2-way for the lights in the hallway, and the second switch for the outside light as a 1-way?

For clarity, the existing 2-way switch is just brown/common, black/L1, grey/L2, and the earth. There is already twin/earth in situ for the outside light.

Cheers.

You can't do it then. You need a neutral from somewhere on that lighting circuit.

Since you ran a cable from the switch to the outside light,
can you get a 2 core/earth
from a Box, Switch or Ceiling Light Rose where there is Line, Neutral and Ground,
to that Switch Point.

(You may not have a Line at that switch, either.
The connection on the Common terminal may be the Feed to the Light, from the other two-way switch.)
