Can anyone advise on relative overall costs and pros/benefits of each solution?
Basically, are the two hipped roofs (with an access hatch?) a much harder job, and is it generally worth it?
Our architect has said either option is fine.
The 2 hipped roof solution appears to be more work and uses more tiles, but looks better and can use the same type of tiles as the existing roof.
The single pitch solutions is fine, but requires the use of non-matching (low-angle, 30degree pitch) and presumably more expensive roof tiles?
Around my estate, I notice that one neighbour has had an extension with one type of roof, and another with the other type so it seems a marginal decision?
Thanks for any advice.
