What more can be said????

One group fights for Queen and country, one fights an illegal war. One group fought hard to be there, one was selected from a recruitment office.

Nobody fighting had their arm twisted up their back in order to fight. They CHOSE to be there, and if they die, it's part of the job, they knew that when they signed up. They choose to kill a man or be killed. Tough call. Not heros.

The heros are the ones that volunteered in WW2, without really knowing their fate, they didn't volunteer, they were forced to sign up, due to peer pressure, they are the heros. The troops over there are fighting for nothing, by misguided politicians, on an illegal war, so every death isn't a casualty of war, it's a murder. The bodies that come back aren't hero's, they are blood stains on the government, that nobody voted for.

mickymoody, remind me to not respond to any more posts you make.
You, too, bear an uncanny resmblance to another poster on my ignore list

That's certainly your perogative, but a forum. by definition, is for expressing your views, if you disagree that's fine, I have no bones about that, when people go beyond that and start personal insults in a forum, then something is amiss..

But for genuine comment, to be ignored, without explaination, is a little stark.

For the last few days I have been bullied and harassed by certain members of the forum, and these have been reported to admin, that have not responded. So if my true feelings regarding this matter have offended you, then I apologise, but an open forum, isn't everyone allowed to voice their own opinion? If you disagree, then say, rather than ban further input, weren't the great inventors ridiculed, and ignored, before their inventions were taken seriously? Don't bar me, for making assumptions.

OK, I'll respond to this one. Your comments above do you no justice, nor the people you refer to. They are ill thought out, insensitive and incorrect. I won't quote any of the comments as you may wish to remove them voluntarily. If you don't do that, it follows that most other forum members will continue to view your posts as fairly worthless, as I am sure that the majority will disagree stongly to the content.
I have not attacked or harassed you, and don't intend to. I would simply rather not respond to someone if I thought they held the views you have expressed.

My thoughts are self expressed, but still you have no counter to disprove them, If you quote me, I have no reason to misquote you, I have not suggested that you have attacked me or harassed me, but others have, I consider you a friend, that disagrees regarding a personal issue to yourself. Let me make it clear;

We have an unelected government, that nobody wanted, that have previously sent troops into a war they didn't wan't, and was founded on illegal ideas.

So they don't want to be there, I don't wan't them to be there, but who told them to be there? The Government? who is? who elected them? Nobody! But if you apply to be a soldier, what are you taking on? You KNOW as part of your job, that you are likely to be killed. Hardly heroic, mostly suicidle. Half gungho. Be real.

I am being real. I was a soldier, (not infantry). I went where the government sent me. I was not a 'hero' because of the job I did. If I killed anyone in an act which wasn't pre-meditated I am not a murderer.

Thus if the Government sent you there illegally, then that makes it legal, or illegal? So you act under orders, legal to take the order, but ILLEGAL, from the top down. Thus a murderer. I saw a film recently with Michael Caine, and he did similar, and was shot for his actions, he followed orders in that film, but the orders were illegal.

An illegal war means that all those that participate in it, are acting against the law, and every killing is murder, though you are in the military and have to follow orders, sometimes those orders are wrong. You can't retaliate against what your orders ask of you, even when they are illegal, and even if it means your death, THATS Loyalty, Courage, and Heroism, but to fight an illegal war, is immoral.

Let me guess,

You applied to join the armed forces but were turned down because you were not considered mentally or physically fit enough. Now you hold a grudge. Pathetic lad.

The poor little love.
Bullied in an internet forum. That's really tough that is. You should have been a soldier with that sort of steel in your sinews. However did they manage without you?

Hey Hoggy! your post has been plagiarised already. How dare people steal your poignant words and not give you (the author) credit. It was THEM that pinched YOUR words wasn't it? You ARE the author aren't you?

All the links you posted are time stamped after the op posted - some really professional research!

Our lads do an outstanding job in difficult situation. Granted every single on of them has signed up for the job - but it still takes a much bigger set of brass nuts to go to war than it does to sit criticizing them on the internet.

Besides, it was the Iraq war that was widely claimed to be illegal - not the Afghan war which is currently claiming lives.
