Hi everyone,

In our house, we have a 36kwh and a 24kwh combination boilers. Plus a 5 burner duel fuel range cooker. The gas burners are rated at 11.5kwh maximum.

Is my current U6 gas metre enough? Or do I have to upgrade to the very very expensive U16?

I understand the diversity factor for combi boiler is 0.8 and for cooker is 0.4. Take that into account, 36X0.8+24X0.8+11.5X0.4=52.6kw.

Is my calculation correct?

Thanks!

Those boiler ratings are the OUTPUT powers and should be in kW and not kWh.

If condensing boilers then multiply the output power by 1.11 and if not by 1.25 if reasonably modern to obtain the INPUT power which is what determines the gas consumption.

But as well as the consumption power, it really needs a gas engineer to check the gas pressures when everything is running as the supply pipework before the meter will often not supply such a large load.
