Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with a concern I have over my newly fitted UltraFrame Roof.

This has been installed by a proper company and not myself, I am in no way qualified in this or the building industry but since the install of the roof I have been very unhappy with the look of it.

It just does not look right to me, aesthetically it is driving me mad..... The tiles look cut all wonky and just a bad finish, I have brought it up with the fitters and the response seems a bit iffy.

Any help would be massively appreciated :)

What is your issue exactly? I can see a gutter that peaks in the centre, meaning the tiles each side of the peak will inevitably taper...?

I'm more baffled by the purpose of the lead flashing (central image)...

Hi,

Thank you for replying.

My issue is the general look of it all, the wonky cut on the tiles and like you said the lead flashing.

I’m certainly not in the know about any of it but looks like an untidy bit of a bodge job?

Some better photos would help, if possible, it looks like there's a bit tape over one of the seams? It is not neat. What's an UltraFrame Roof?

I understand it's a taper but surely it would be cut neat? just looks like some freehand messy cut?

The part in the corner as well, nothing looks finished correctly?

Is that gutter horizontal though? Or is it higher in the centre? Which is what noseall is inferring? And would cause the taper.

I think it’s slightly higher in the centre to allow run off either side, even so would you expect the tiles to be cut all over the place?

If it's higher in the centre then the tiles would need to be tapered like it is. But I agree none of it is very neat.

Of course I understand that but overall I’m unhappy with the way it’s been cut and finished.

The corner part I have no idea what happened there.

I’m just being told that’s how it is but it just looks awful in my opinion, just looking for advice as too whether it’s acceptable to have it like this

Well the chalk line for the cut slates could be slightly straighter but you're dealing with a natural material. Whilst retrospect is easy a proper lead box gutter would have look 10 x better and could have avoided any need for a taper if detailed properly, the devil's in the detail! Is this a whole new roof on an extension or something? Were there detail drawings? I confess I've never come across gutters like that and have never detailed such a gutter like that.

Hi,

It's a complete new extension build, the tiles are not real and I believe they come in strips - they are a type of plastic.

Have attached some pics to try to show.

Just frustrated I have put my trust in them and starting to think it's not been done properly

Jeez what a horrible detail, natural material or man-made they can be cut better but takes longer and more skill. I still don't understand what the crappy bit of tape is in the third and fourth pics, there seems to be some nice welded joints and then a crappy bit of tape over something. Got a link to this 'UltraFrame Roof'? I'm intrigued but not in a good way.

Ahh is this aimed at conservatory roof conversions? Another bunch of clowns who've jumped on the band-wagon, installed in a hurry by unskilled personnel.
