Hi guys

I live in a 70’s bungalow, we moved in couple of years ago as we are of grid for a gas pipe, we installed a biomass system, which is great for hot water and heating during the cold winter.

The only problem with these systems after living with them for awhile, is when you get to spring time and the end of summer etc, you really miss a combi boiler where you can get heat quickly and easily.

Anyway this year we added an extension to the house giving us another living space + bedroom+ En-suite + utility room.

As we have a fair bit of space outside we decided to make the house a bit of a hybrid, and installed an underground lpg tank.

The lpg will supply the new extension and one of the showers in the original house.

We are fitting
underfloor heating 90sq
Supplying two mixer showers
Supplying two towel rails.
Supplying hot tap en-suite
Supply hot tap in utility room.

The extension is insulated to up to date regs.

Just wondered if anyone can advise what size of condensing boiler might be required.
I am led to believe underfloor heating does not place a huge demand on the boiler.

Thanks Nick

If you must have a combi, it will be sized on the hot water demand. With 2 showers that goes towards the largest one available, and even then it may not be adequate.

If you want a proper heating system with stored hot water, boiler size is dependant on the heating requirements for the building, which will need to be calculated based on the size of the rooms, type of construction, insulation and so on.
