Hi,
I have an Edwardian house (1907). It has a pre-existing extension out the back (now the kitchen) which drops down below the suspended floor of the house onto a concrete floor. Due to this I have no airbricks out the back and one in the front of the house. It came up on our survey as having inadequate airflow. We've been doing some work in our frontroom/dining room and there's no mould underfloor, all floorboards/joists look OK, just a slight general damp/musty smell under there. Question is can I put a little airbrick going into my kitchen to get some airflow? There's only one place it can go. Is that OK? Will it leave us with a damp smell coming up from it, will it allow humidity from cooking etc into it? Is it OK to have any methane escaping from it etc etc. Or is it OK to leave?
Sorry for the questions, total newbie!
Cheers,
