Unfair vehicle taxation

I'm asking you because you answered replied to my question

"So what's Vehicle Excise Duty on top of that for ?

If you didn't know you shouldn't have tried to answer.

I told you.

John - the more you try to double down on the claim that a reply which does not ANSWER the question is an ANSWER the worse you will look.

You asked a question which I answered.

"What is the £5 admission ticket for?"

"It's for admission."

If you wanted to know what the money was spent on, or some other question, that's what you should have asked.

My current motorbike costs zero for road tax.

It seems from April EV's will pay road tax, and seems likely will be dependent on weight, and clearly EV's are heavy, so stand back for the flack.

Yes, new ones will pay a whopping £10 for the first year tax, and then most will go on to the standard £190 rate. I don't mind that to much, as I clearly ought to contribute SOMETHING, and with what I'm saving on fuel, it'll only take me 6 or 7 weeks to save £190.

New ones registered after April will also have to pay the "expensive car tax for the first 5 years, if they were over £40k when bought new.

Nothing about weight in there.

I have tended to ignore car tax, as once one looks at cost per mile, it is rather a small amount, never been fair as such, sons Jag around £190, wife's Jag around £35, same engine, same turbo, same body, his is 4 wheel drive, but it was the settings of the engine management which caused price difference, and the setting when manufactured, getting his set same and my wife's will not reduce his tax.
