Uninsured drivers

Well we do have bigger feet... when I drove my mum's Peugeot 206 in flipflops I got my big toe caught behind the steering shaft!

I did precisely this in exactly the same vehicle (I mean vehicle type, not your mum's) and without the benefit of flip flops. Is this feature an optional extra with Peugeot do you think?

Obviously their record is not too good or reliable, hence they come with their own toe

Of course, this doesn't entirely conquer the driving without insurance problem in that some people would still evade the original £1000, and people would still hit and run.
A simple Label like the tax disc could show you are in the scheme? The getting of a driving licence etc would be governed by ownership of one of the accounts, one good comment made earlier could be incorporated, you would have to swipe a current licence in order to get fuel.

Took me a while to get that one!

Just a thought, with this whole idea of an insurance scheme: it would be a real bu**er if someone stole your car or vandalised it... it wouldn't be fair to expect others to pay for the cost, yet it wouldn't seem right that you would be put on the expensive scheme. People might even realise that smashing up a car would screw that person even more than it does now, and use it as some kind of scum revenge.

if the government even gave a sniff that they might consider such a scheme then the insurance companies would s*it themselves and maybe bring down the cost of premiums instead of ripping us off all the time. If not then we can be sure that big fat brown envelopes have been handed around. :)

Doubt if anything like this would ever reach the statute books though, just think troughs, MP's, lords and Lloyds names. ;)

interesting thought has come to mind with you saying that. I wonder how much of a percentage of the insurance companies business( as a whole) is down to motor insurance? i've a feeling that it's a relatively small part, compared to the shipping, airline, offshore oil, building etc insurance side.
