Hi a quick question on unvented cylinders. I understand that you have to registered, competent etc to install unvented cylinders, however, is it possible under water regs for bathrom fitters/competent plumbers without qualifications to work on systems which are already installed? (i.e. draining down/refilling sytems to work on rads ,etc)

No, but

(i.e. draining down/refilling sytems to work on rads ,etc)
doesn't involve the pressurised heated water store, so that's OK.

you can work on everything OTHER than the cylinder itself or its safety componants T&P valve etc)
sealed central heating systems DO NOT fall under g3

:)

Thanks guys that covers the heating . How about the presurised hot water. If working on the hot to plumb in showers/bath etc,etc.......

as long as you aint locking horns with the cylinder it self go of it

unfortunately would love to go for it but it will be a bathroom fitter who is not registered to install unvented or corgi reg. As bathroom is full refit and will cover all aspects of plumbing(Hot / cold & central heating) i wanted to know if LEGALLY he can work the system working on all of the above. He has done work for me before which is always upt o sctatch but that was on a previous house with vented system.

YES HE CAN

He cannot work on the cylinder or its safety componants if the cylinder is over 15 litre capacity

changuing baths taps etc is fine

Why don't you suggest he goes and gets the certificate!

(Then he can do all the work he wants on bathrooms and HW)
