Upstairs toilet uses a macerator, want it plumbed properly

the trap["U"bend ] under the sink is full off water to stop smells coming out off the drains
if the trap is empty there is nothing to stop the smell coming out the sink

run the sink taps for about 20 seconds with the plug out to fill the trap then try the poo blender again

May also be worth giving the macerator a clean, although I doubt you'll need descaler if you're in Birmingham....

Saniflo's instructions:

Turn off power supply to unit.
Pour an amount of bleach or descaler into the pan.
Flush W.C. once.
Leave it to stand for 1-2 hours.
Switch on power to unit.
Rinse by flushing W.C. twice.
