Vaccination cock up!

Doctor on the radio tonight explained everything about how it works & the booster. The 1st shot does all the leg work & teaches the cells what to do. It starts immediately but becomes more & more efficient as It radiates out from the arm & takes 3 to 4 weeks to spread around the whole body. The second shot is sort of like a test run for the white cells & antibodies.
Catching Covid after the same period would do the same thing but the antibodies wouldn’t last as long. Apparently if you have to wait 2 or 3 months for the second shot, it will make the resistance even stronger.

Funny thing is though, the old folk will get on with it (probably laugh about it:)), but some young pampered flake will have a PTSD meltdown, faint, and have to be airlifted to the nearest counseling centre:whistle:

The only variable to distinguish vaccine resistant respondents from vaccine hesitant respondents in the UK sample was age. Those who were vaccine resistant were more likely to be in younger age categories (over seven times more likely to be aged 18–24, and over four times more likely to be aged between 25–34 years and 35–44 years, than to be in the 65 and older age category).

In short, the Northern Irish are paranoid, women are more hesitant than men and you old farts have brought up your children badly as they're too scared to get it done and can't count well.

although this bit made me laugh.

In the UK sample, the combined vaccine hesitant and resistant group differed most clearly from the vaccine acceptance group on the following psychological variables: lower levels of trust in health care professionals (d = 0.39), scientists (d = 0.38), and the state (d = 0.16); higher levels of paranoia (d = 0.27) and religious beliefs (d = 0.21); lower levels of altruism (d’s ranged from 0.17 to 0.22); higher levels of social dominance (d = 0.21); lower levels of the personality traits agreeableness (d = 0.22) and conscientiousness (d = 0.17), and higher levels of neuroticism (d = 0.11); higher levels of internal locus of control (d = 0.16) and belief in chance (d = 0.17), and lower levels of beliefs about the role of powerful others (d = 0.19); lower cognitive reflection (d = 0.14); and more negative attitudes towards migrants (d = 0.11).
I wonder if that describes anyone around here...

Mrs Mottie has a vaccine booked for next Thursday! She works part time for the NHS and up until now, only front line and patient facing staff were allowed them. Apparently, most of them will be vaccinated pretty soon so it has now been opened up to ANY NHS worker. She works as a transcriber but admin staff have recently been asked if they were willing to help out on the wards - not dealing with patients as such but carrying out admin duties that are normally carried out by the nurses such as typing up discharge notes, booking transport home, phoning relatives with updates etc. Of course, Florence Nightingale has said she's do it if needed. Anyway, she's slightly nervous about the vaccine but then again, she'd have to be practically dying before she took a paracetamol so it’s understandable. Me? I feel like I’ve seen her in the queue for the lifeboat as the Titanic is going down! Best bit of news I’ve had for ages. :)

Funny how younger women are quite happy to inject god knows what into their faces but are sceptical about the vaccine

There are reports of big queues in other places where people are left in the cold. Not much different to outpatient hospital appointments, some gp's and the dentists.

Seems Lichfield cathedral had similar problems and the reported asked what had happened to social distancing and received a blank look.

Although time to get there will probably be a variable I would have thought more use of the phone could bring in more manageable batches of people.

I've heard from people who have had the jab that having their NHS number handy speeds things up and the number is a must. :( If a problem why not warn people.

Somebody getting their 2nd - gov released instruction to cancel all and move the time out to 12 weeks. It seems they were told to do that but the way this was mentioned it seems some were taking no notice.

you old farts have brought up your children badly as they're too scared to get it done and can't count well.

So assuming you're not an old fart you're saying you're too scared and can't count very well?

It seems on some on here the early ones need to be 100 which works out too high and messes the calcs up and some later ones go to 0. ;) It means despite denials they will probably have it when they find out >25% of hospital patients are in the younger age groups and have a bad time.
